Note the little scrap of wallpaper visible in the background? One can often find little bits of history tucked in behind built-ins, moldings, or furniture too heavy to move.

Nostalgic for the original Wayback Machine?
I love that you can look past the rather extraordinary deterioration of the pipe (and its implied plumber’s jackpot) to the sweet wallpaper remnant behind it. Can you date the pattern?

It’s out. I asked for it, but he forgot. Perhaps he took it to put in his museum of horrifically rotted out pipes! If you wanted it, fear not. I’m sure another will turn up soon.
